The Top 17 Moments of 2017

In the spirit of the New Year approaching, Chris and I reflected on what this last year has brought us. While 2017 was a complete dumpster fire for the United States, it was much kinder to our little family. Right before 2017 began, Chris and I set out 3 goals: promotions for the each of us and pulling off a wedding in Germany. Looking back at this last year, we accomplished our goals and so much more. In chronological order, here are our Top 17 Moments of 2017.

17. My New Trainer Position with TED @ Thomson Reuters

I started my new position at the beginning of the year as a Sales and Account Management Trainer with the Training, Education, and Development department at Thomson Reuters and LOVED it!!! My partner, Deb, and I onboarded newly hired Client Managers through a 5-week long program. The TED team is so talented, and for the first time in a really long time, work was fun, challenging, and rewarding.

16. Chris' Dad, Jerry, Beat Cancer

Jerry was cleared of cancer after a grueling battle in the Fall of 2016. That was the best news we received all year. For those of you who know Jerry, he is the bionic man, and has proven that he can make it through anything!

15. Wedding Dress Shopping in Chicago

Not only did I get to go to one of my favorite cities at the beginning of this year, but I found my wedding dress there, which made it all the more special. With my mom, Aunt Diane, Chris' mom,  Karen, and friends David, Natassja, and Jeremy, we had a blast exploring the city and picking out the perfect dress for our castle wedding in Germany.

In May, Chris and I headed to the Big Apple to visit our jewelers to get our wedding bands and spend some quality time with bff David.

13. Minneapolis Pride

Pride this year was FREEZING, but that didn't stop us from singing along to Wilson Phillips, dancing our faces off, and enjoying the parade.

12. Coldplay Concert & Lady Gaga Concert

Chris and I love going to shows and this year we got to see two big ticket productions in Coldplay and Lady Gaga. Mother Monster did not disappoint and Coldplay turned it out putting on the best show Chris and I have ever been to.

11. Minnesota Wedding / Send-Off Party

On September 2nd, Chris and I were legally wed in downtown Minneapolis and celebrated with family and friends at an Oktoberfest-themed party at Lake Ann Park in Chanhassen. It was one of the happiest and best days of our lives.

10. Paragliding off the Alps in Bavaria, Germany

Jumping off a 5,600 foot mountain was not on my list of "to-dos" this year, but it turned out to be one of our most exciting and memorable adventures of the year.

9. Germany Wedding

Our wedding in Germany will forever be one of the best days of our lives. We've all read the wedding blog, so there's nothing to rehash here, except that I love you Chris Murray.

8. Oktoberfest in Munich

After our wedding in Germany, we knocked off a bucket list item and partied it up at Oktoberfest. Travel tip: make sure you have your guest count and reserve enough table space.

1. Home for the Holidays

Chris and I have gotten to enjoy the last 8 or 9 days of 2017 home in Chanhassen, Minnesota for the holidays. It was so great to spend the holidays with family and friends. It's even more special getting to see our nieces, Elle and Genevieve. Chris' brother Nate and sister-in-law Sonja welcomed Genevieve into the world on December 13th and she is such a good baby. Elle is almost 20 months, knows how to say about 40 words, and is always on the go. We have loved this time at home and can't wait for all our visitors in 2018!

Here's to 2017! I hope you all enjoyed the holiday season with loved ones. Cheers to what 2018 will bring!
