5 Brunch Spots in Dublin To Try
Brunching culture is alive and well and Dublin is no slouch when it comes to great spots to indulge in comfort food on Sunday mornings. Not only are restauranteurs getting more and more creative with their menus, but the cocktail lists are something to be marveled. Am I the only one who orders water, coffee, a Diet Coke, and several cocktails at brunch? Sundays are a time to relax, rejuvenate, and enjoy over great food with your inner circle. Here are 5 of my favorite brunch spots to try in Dublin.
Happy Brunching!
SAN LORENZO’S
South Great George’s Street, Dublin 2
San Lorenzo’s claims the tagline “Brunch of Champions” and for good reason. The tiny restaurant gives you a NYC feel with its dark brick interior, edison bulb lighting, and packed tables. Brunch is served every weekend from 10:00 a.m. and you better make sure to make a reservation.
Try their brunch tacos, crab cakes, or their signature dish — Coco Pops Crunchy French Toast served with salt caramelised bananas, peanut butter, mascarpone whipped cream, Belgian chocolate sauce. WOW.
BROTHER HUBBARD NORTH
153 Capel Street, Dublin 1
As seen on Netflix’s “Somebody Feed Phil”, Brother Hubbard is a favorite breakfast spot amongst Dubliners. It is so popular, in fact, that they recently completed a huge expansion in their northside restaurant to accommodate more patrons. Their Middle Eastern inspired brunch menu brings bold flavors to breakfast classics. Meat lovers, vegetarians, and vegans alike are sure to find something to eat in this hip restaurant that not only serves up delicious food, but strives for sustainability.
Try their granola, yogurt, & compote, avo & eggs toast, or the Turkish eggs menemen, and don’t forget to grab something from their bakery on your way out!
HERBSTREET
9 Hanover Quay, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin 2
There’s a reason you can expect to wait for a table at Herbstreet — there is usually a line of people waiting to get in to fill their bellies with the freshly made, comfort food. But don’t let the line scare you off. When they take your name, they take down your phone number as well and call you when your table is ready, so take a stroll along the canal while you wait. Their menu is comprehensive, filled with breakfast staples like pancakes and a full Irish, and includes lunch options like a turkey burger or buffalo wings. They have indoor and outdoor seating, either of which are great. Plus, their outdoor seating is dog friendly. Our pup, Hugo, is a particular fan!
Try their French toast served with clotted cream and Canadian maple syrup, pancakes with banana and hazelnut chocolate spread, or their turkey burger. If you’re a fan of skinny cut chips / French fries, Herbstreet’s are not to be missed!
WHITEFRIAR GRILL
16 Aungier St, Dublin 2
One of Dublin’s best steakhouses also serves up a mean brunch with a no-frills interior, but a bustling atmosphere where you are not likely to find a chair to spare. Whitefriar Grill serves up classics like a full Irish breakfast and an array of eggs benedicts, but also wanders into international territories with a southern fried chicken burger or a pulled pork and kimchi hash. Um yum!
When we visited, we found their actual brunch menu to be more expansive than that shown online, so if you see the wings on the menu, definitely give those a go! Make sure to book in for brunch so you don’t miss out on your chance to try this great spot!
TWO PUPS COFFEE
74 Francis St, The Liberties, Dublin 8
Where hipster meets great food and even better coffee — meet Two Pups Coffee. This off-the-beaten-path coffeehouse gives you all sorts of cozy feels with its never-ending rooms filled with hodge podge furniture. It doesn’t take long to feel right at home here. The menu isn’t extensive, but it doesn’t need to be. Everything is made in-house or locally sourced, which I always appreciate. You can sit indoors or outdoors, and the best part? It’s dog-friendly! Order and pay at the counter, sit back, and enjoy one of Dublin’s best brunch spots.
Try the avocado toast or the french toast, and make sure to grab a treat at the bakery! The rhubarb amaretti pie was perfect.
There you have it! My picks for 5 brunch spots to try out in Dublin: San Lorenzo’s, Brother Hubbard North, Herbstreet, Whitefriar Grill, and Two Pups Coffee. If you have a different favourite spot, let me know in the comments!
Until next time…
Cheers! xo,
